    Resources:

    Protocols

    • Interviewer Training ( Protocol )

A one hour course on telephone and in-person interviewing techniques and considerations.

    • Refusal Aversion Training ( Protocol )

A one hour course on interviewer behaviors and how those behaviors affect research participant responses and response rates.

    • Remote Consenting Toolkit ( Protocol )

A comprehensive guide for remote patient/research participant consenting including regulatory and software considerations.

    Resource Collection

    • The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center Collection ( Resource Collection )

The OSUCCC – James Shared Resources and core facilities provide specialized services to cancer researchers. They offer cost-effective, state-of-the-art technology and instrumentation; expert guidance and training; and clinical, administrative and technical support.

    Services

    • Data collection (REDCap, TeleForm, Qualtrics) ( Support service )

The RISSR supports population science, cancer control and clinical researchers by providing a full range of data collection services, including the collection and management of quantitative data utilizing a variety of data collection methods, as well as the facilitation, transcription and analysis of focus groups and interviews. Trained RISSR interviewers are available to survey participants in person or via phone or video. The RISSR also offers staff training and oversight of data collection procedures, including refusal aversion training to increase response rates and specialized training to consider the unique needs of diverse populations.

    • Measure selection ( Support service )

The selection and/or development of surveys, and studies measures to appropriately capture targeted constructs.

    • Participant recruitment ( Support service )

The RISSR identifies and facilitates the accrual of human subjects from The Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center hospitals and clinics and the OSUCCC – James, as well as from the community. To create a larger, more diverse accrual base, the RISSR works in collaboration with the Center for Cancer Health Equity (CCHE) and the Clinical Trials Office (CTO) to coordinate efforts and maximize resources.

    • Participant retention ( Support service )

    • Population based data retrieval ( Support service )

The RISSR assists investigators with locating, accessing, retrieving and interpreting cancer incidence, mortality, survival and population-based data. The RISSR can provide investigators with critical information needed for grant applications and reports, including disease-specific population estimates of cancer incidence, mortality and/or survival from local, county, state or national data. Additionally, the RISSR provides expanded retrieval, interpretation and consultation for population-based investigations (e.g., information concerning the potential composition of study groups with or without additional criteria, such as race, ethnicity and gender)

    • Regulatory (IRB) ( Support service )

The RISSR assists with regulatory processes for non-therapeutic studies. This encompasses assistance with Clinical Scientific Review Board submissions, Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, amendments and continuing reviews, if needed, and other regulatory oversight. RISSR staff members have vast experience preparing submissions and understanding the regulatory process.

    • Research design ( Support service )

The RISSR assists investigators with a comprehensive range of services related to research design and the selection and/or development of surveys, and studies measures to appropriately capture targeted constructs.

    Software

    • Qualtrics ( Software )

Qualtrics is a secure web platform for building and managing online surveys.

    • REDCap ( Software )

REDCap is a secure web platform for building and managing online databases and surveys. REDCap's streamlined process for rapidly creating and designing projects offers a vast array of tools that can be tailored to virtually any data collection strategy.
